Health Screening

Preparation prior to screening

Health screening can feel a bit stressful if it’s your first time. The process may be different for everyone, depending on what is included in the screening package. It can take 3-4 hours or even a whole morning or afternoon. Here are some important guidelines to help you prepare and get the best results from your screening

PCT-CT - Positron Emission Tomography

What is PET-CT?

PET-CT is an advanced imaging test that combines the strengths of PET, which detects metabolic abnormalities, and CT, which identifies structural abnormalities. This technology is useful for diagnosing cancer and determining its stage, and PET-CT results can be used immediately to guide treatment.

Test Procedure

  • A radioactive isotope injection will be given before the scan, and you’ll need to lie down and rest for about 1 hour to allow it to spread throughout the body.
  • Please use the restroom before the scan.
  • After emptying your bladder, the scan will start and usually takes about 20–30 minutes.
  • For PET-CT scans, appointments can be canceled or rescheduled up to 2 days in advance through the Nuclear Medicine Department. (A fee may apply for same-day cancellations.)

Precautions

  • Fasting
    • On the night before your health screening, finish dinner by 8 PM and fast from 9 PM until you arrive the next day.
    • PET-CT visualizes glucose metabolism, so if you have diabetes or suspect diabetes, please consult with us beforehand, as the results may be less accurate. Bring any diabetes medications you are currently taking.
  • Exercise
    • 2–3 days before the health screening, avoid eating meat, drinking alcohol, and overexertion.
  • Medications
    • If you take any regular medications, please inform the staff in advance.
